It seems Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is staying put.
A source confirmed to 630 CHED that an announcement on the Edmonton Oilers assistant captain’s contract negotiations is coming on Tuesday.
The Oilers and Nugent-Hopkins have reportedly agreed to an eight-year contract worth $41 million. That’s an average annual value of $5.125 million.
The deal reportedly includes a no-movement clause.
Nugent-Hopkins, 28, has played his entire 10-year career with the Oilers since being drafted first overall in 2011. He’s coming off a season which saw him post 35 points in 52 games.
Nugent-Hopkins could have become a free agent on July 28 as his six-year, $36-million contract was coming to an end.
